Lane Kiffin Posted: January 29, 2007, 11:45 pm
The son of the Bucs' defensive co-ordinator is the new head coach of the Oakland Raiders . New as in a week or so, I'm a bit late .

Lane just hired former Atlanta Falcons and 49ers offensive co-ordinator Greg Knapp to the role of OC for the Raiders . Knapp no doubt will assist Kiffin in game planning and easy his move into the NFL from USC and the College game.

What a difference a year makes. This time last year Tony Dungy was grieving the loss of his son and the exit of his Colts from the play offs.

This year however, Dungy is going to the show after putting the team that for so long had been the monkey on their shoulders. It wasn't an easy win - they where down 21-3 at one point in the first half - but it definately was deserving.

Oh, and that Manning fellow also makes it through. You know the one has his face in a 1000 different adverts. You must have seen him, it's impossible to watch a TV show without seeing his face during the breaks.

This year's coach of the year is beaten by last years. As the Saints fairytale season comes to an end in the snow and cold of Chicago.
Merry Go Round. Posted: January 21, 2007, 11:31 pm
We are told Steve Sarkisian was about to get the chance to replace Art Shell as the Oakland Raiders coach but goes and withdraws his name from consideration. This was after his fellow USC coach and son of Tampa's defensive co-ordinator Monte Kiffen - Lane Kiffen - had we where told by the media interviewed for the post of offensive co-ordinator.

Now comes the news that Lane Kiffen will interview for a second time with the Raiders on Monday and this time for the post of head coach. This opens a lot of questions. Did Al see something he prefered in Lane for example.
Schottenheimer dumped out of playoffs - AGAIN Posted: January 14, 2007, 8:41 pm
Marty Schottenheimer's ability to coach a playoff continues to be called into question following another loss. The underdog New England Patriots dropped the Chargers 24-21 to leave Marty with a very unimpressive 5-13 record in playoff games.
