Raiders Lose Superbowl
Thats how last season ended and now its time to get back to the business of winning another trip to the big game and hopefully revenge for that defeat.

Interesting fact for thoose taking note: The road to Superbowl nirvana goes through the Raiders. Each of the last three eventual winners have beaten the Raiders to get there. Tampa in the big game itself last year, New England the year before and Baltimore the year before that.

April 2003 - Raiders draft 10
The Raiders picked up ten players in this years draft. The two first rounders are Nnamdi Asomugha (DB) and Tyler Brayton (DE). In the second round they took WR Teyo Johnson. The third saw them pick up Sam Williams (LB/DE) and Justin Fargas (RB). Shurron Pierson (DE) in the fourth, Doug Gabriel (WR) in the fifth, Dustin Rykert (OT) in the sixth and Jeremy "siddeeq" Shabazz in the seventh. Then with the final pick in the draft the Raiders picked up another wide reciever in Ryan Hoag.

August 11th - Raiders 7 Rams 6
The Raiders started along the long road to the Superbowl once again this weekend by beating the Rams in their first preseason match. Rushing was the name of the game for this one with draft pick Fargas leading the way and Hill not too far behind.

September 12th - Raiders 7 Rams 6
The Raiders had a poor preseason and that spilled into the opening quarter of the regular season opener. Penalties stopped them from getting into any kind of groove and helped set up a lead for the Titans. However the second quarter saw the Raiders finding their feet and indeed taking the lead. Ultimately however it was a poor call by the officials that cost the Raiders the game. A catch that was beyond even a Canadian football league endzone or so it felt too me was ruled good. That and the unbelievable performance of Titans' punter on kicking duties when Nedney left the game.

The also seems to have caused several key Raider injuries - most notable being thoose too Rod Woodson and Jerry Porter. How the Raiders fare with their absence will be interesting too watch. Woodson last season was the only starting player too play in the Raiders secondary to play in every game.

November 3th - Raiders 13 Loins 23
It's been awhile since the Raiders where this bad. I'd become used to the winning and the extra enjoyment it brought to watching a football game. Bill Callahan has to find a way to right this sinking ship and fast. He'll have to do it without the star QB of past campaigns or the future star QB. He'll need to find a way to win with damaged goods, a QB who simple near really made it too the NFL. A QB who was cut by the 49ers for not wanting to compete for a starting position. Rick Mirer - man the name send shivers down my back - is going to have to be the man. Boy are we in trouble now.

Jan 11th - Raiders Season Over
Like a mercy killing the Raiders season ended with possibly the poorest performance by a Raider offense since I can't remember when (how bad was that shutout posted by Denver on Monday night several years ago?). Bill Callahan wasn't retained / given a contract extension as was predicted by the entire Western hemisphere (the rest of the world would have guessed it too if they where the least bit interested). I for one am sorry to see him go. I would have liked to see what he could do with this team cleansed of overacheiving and over whinny veterans.
