Raiders 21, Buccaneers 48

No excuses the Raiders lost the Superbowl to the better more hungry team on the day. What little signs of life the team did show came too late to save the day.

Raiders 41, Titans 24

The AFC Conference Champions had a hard time dealing Titans in the second quarter and but for two timely turnovers late in that quarter the result could have been so different.

In teh second half the Raiders stepped up their game and it was the younger Titans that started to wilter in the end as Rich Gannon showed why he earnt the NFL MVP title this year.

Raiders 30, Jets 10

The Raiders opened their second season with a win over the New York Jets. During the first half they tried too be different and run the ball down the throats of the Jets with limited results. The second half however was a different story and Raiders from both sides of the ball picked it up. The defense shutting down Pennington and the Jets whilst Rich Gannon sliced and diced the Jets defence.

Raiders 24, Chiefs 0

The rain fell in Oakland as the faint play off hopes of the Chiefs where dowsed by a large dose of the Oakland Raider running game. The end result is the first ever shutout of the Chiefs by the Oakland Raiders.

The Oakland runners: Charlie Garner - 29 attempts for 135 yards and a touchdown (4.7 yards per carry), Zach Crockett - 11 attempts for 72 yards and a touchdown (6.5 yards per carry) and Tyronne Wheatley - 17 carries for 69 yards (4.1 yards per carry). Unstoppable is the only word for it.

Also in the game Rod Woodson got his eight interception of the season to move him ahead of Night Train Lane for third on the all time list.

January 2003: Rich Gannon has been named the league's MVP for 2002. Congratulations to Rich, its long overdue recognition for the job you've been doing for the Raiders since you arrived here.

December 2002 Part 2: The Raiders just complete a sweep of the Broncos too seal a third straight division title. One more win should wrap up homefield advantage for them through out the play offs.

December 2002:
Raiders rolling so far in December. Crushing the Chargers this weekend to extend their winning streak to a season high five games. Rich Gannon sets a new NFL record with ten three hundred yard plus passing games in a single season (and with three games to go too).

November 2002:
Raiders are now on another run, this time three wins in a row. Beating the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and now the Arizona Cardinals has put them in full control of their own destiny and brings them back to a tie for the division lead. The division is likely to be decided via the three remaining division games for all teams with the Chiefs likely playing spoiler in the whole thing..

October 2002:
Unbeaten in their first four games and unable to win in their last three. That is the story of the Raiders' season so far. Disappointing losses to the Rams, Chargers and now the hated Chiefs have dropped the Raiders into the middle of the pack. With both Denver and San Diego ahead of them.

September 2002:
Raiders start of the season with a win over the former AFC West Seattle Seahawks.

June 2002: Eric Allen is apparently going to retire though no news of him filing his papers has been announced. The same is true of Wiz and William Thomas. There has been no apparent movement on the Rich Gannon contract situation. With Gannon missing optional mini-camps whilst looking to rework his current contract which is in it's final year.

April 2002: The 2002 draft is now complete, for details on it click on the Draft link over on the left hand side. New head coach Bill Callahan and Al Davis got their men in the first round.

Feb 2002
: The search for the new Oakland Raiders head coach continues. No candidates have been confirmed by the Raiders organization themselves. However rumours have it that Bill Callahan is the leading candidate. Others mentioned for the job include Bill Parcells, Marc Trestman and Art Shell. Who will it be? Why not pop by FansInBlack and let the world know who you want or think we will get.

Feb 2002
: The Oakland Raiders have traded away coach Gruden for two first round choices, two second round choices and eight million dollars. The first picks come this year giving the Raiders two first round picks and two second round picks in the April draft.
